About Us

Maroochy Waters Medical Practice was established over ten years ago with the first doctor/principal being Dr Dean Larkin . Dr Ziena Al-Obaidi joined the practice in 2001 and went into partnership with Dr Larkin in July 2003. The Practice relocated in June 2005 from its old premises within the Denna Street shopping complex to a brand new, state-of-the-art medical centre incorporating the latest medical equipment and patient comforts in June 2005.

Dr Dean Larkin and Dr Ziena Al-Obaidi wanted a contemporary modern building which would incorporate various medical professionals, effectively creating a “one -stop” health centre for their patients. Read more about the extensive range of services offered direct through the Practice, and also through our team of Allied Health Professionals here.

The new Practice's premises were officially opened by local councillor Fiona Wilson on Friday August 12, 2005. More than 130 local general practitioners, medical specialists and associated local business professionals attended the grand opening which merged the Maori (Dr Dean Larkin is from New Zealand) and Arabian (Dr Ziena Al-Obadi is from Iraq) cultures for an exciting themed event.

The new centre has proved to be a great asset to the Maroochy Waters community and beyond.

Maroochy Waters Medical Practice are committed to ongoing General Practitioner training and are proud to be an accredited practice for the Central and Southern Queensland Training Consortium with both Dr Dean Larkin and Dr Sue Baglow being Registrar supervisors.
