Practice Information

Appointments system

Maroochy Waters Medical Practice runs an appointment system, however we do keep openings for emergencies. You can make an appointment with your doctor by telephoning the surgery. Urgent medical problems will be dealt with promptly. Appointments are made at 15 minutes intervals so you can normally expect to spend that long with your doctor. Please remember when making your appointment to advise reception staff if you need extra time.

Out of Surgery

Home visits are available for urgent cases for regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery. They are generally done at the end of a session i.e at the end of the day. There is a fee of $ 75.00 for a standard home visit.

Waiting Times

Nobody likes to be kept waiting. We are all aware of this and try to adhere to appointment schedules. However, the unpredictable nature of a medical practice means that doctors sometimes run behind time. This is mostly due to a patient requiring urgent medical attention. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused to patients when we are behind with our appointments. Please feel free to telephone our surgery to check whether your doctor is running on time.

After Hours Services

Should you require after hours medical attention, please telephone Maroochy Waters Medical Practice on (07) 5479 1177. Please note that this is not an answering machine! Our after hours medical services are held in conjunction with Family Care who are a fully accredited service. Their direct number is 1300 550 911. Should you require further details regarding this service, please do not hesitate to talk to any of the staff at this practice.

Telephoning your doctor

Doctors in this practice may be contacted by phone during surgery hours. A message will be taken if the doctor is with another patient and your call will be returned when the doctor is available.

Patient Feedback

Our goal is to provide a quality, caring service. Therefore if you have any concerns or suggestions, please phone or write to our Office Manager, Debbie Tolhurst or your doctor. We genuinely wish to hear from you. From time to time this practice invites patients to complete questionnaires on their views of the practice and how it could be improved. These surveys are completely confidential and help us improve our services.

We believe that problems are best dealt with through the practice. Indeed, we want to know if you are concerned about any aspect of our service. However, if you feel there is a problem you wish to take outside, you may prefer to contact the Queensland Government Centre for handling complaints.

The address is:

The Health Rights Commission

Repeat Prescriptions

In order to monitor your health and fulfill our ethical and legal responsibilities, we require that you attend your doctor (or if your usual doctor is not available, one of the other doctors) in order to receive further prescriptions for your medications.

Receiving Results

We have in place a computerized recall system. You will be reminded to attend the surgery for an appointment if your doctor feels that this is appropriate.
